Hello again!

Being a finalist for Miss Teenage Canada 2016, we are encouraged to fundraise for the charity Free The Children and Victims of the Fort McMurray Fire for a total of 7 weeks. I set a goal to reach by the end of my fundraising efforts. As soon as I started my fundraising period, for my first fundraiser I decided to sell raffle tickets that were to be drawn on the day of my second fundraiser, BBQ For A Cause. Of course, I kept the prizes a secret until the time I drew the winners.

At the door, I also sold raffle tickets that were to be drawn near the end of the fundraiser.

Boodle fight buffet style

Who wouldn’t want to enjoy the warm weather by attending a BBQ fundraiser with music, raffles, and fun the entire day, and at the same time helping two causes at once? We also included a twist, instead of actually having a boodle fight, meaning all of the food is placed on banana leaves and everyone sits around the table and eats altogether, at the food table we had a boodle fight setting instead where people could just get their food buffet style. We made sure that everyone enjoyed and would go home with a full stomach.

In addition, Baskin Robbins (York Mills, Toronto, ON) sponsored tubs of ice cream for my fundraiser. I sold cups/cones with a choice of a variety of ice cream flavours that brought a smile on the kids’ faces. The teenagers and adults loved it too since everyone is a kid at heart. So, thank you Baskin Robbins for contributing to the success of my fundraiser!

After selling raffle tickets for many weeks, the day of my fundraiser was the day I drew the raffle winners. I made sure that the prizes were items that would be useful and enjoyable. There were 3 winners, with the 1st prize being the best one out of all of them. After drawing the names, the winners were delighted to hear that they won! Quick thank you to everyone who bought a raffle ticket to help Free the Children and Victims of the Fort McMurray Fire, all your help is greatly appreciated!

With friends at my fundraiser “BBQ For A Cause”
